The town is named after Kitscoty Kent, England.
The Post office opened on March 1, 1907.
John Drew worked at Dale's Hardware Store from about 1906-1940. He originally homesteaded in 1906 NE Kitscoty. He had the property until at least 1916. He was the first School Board Chairman in 1907 and was on the Board for many years. He hired his future wife to be the school teacher, Merran Logie Anderson in about 1909. In 1911 they married. He also ran a real estate business with McPhee from 1901-13. They were agents for selling property for the Hudson Bay.
