The town was founded in 1881. It was originally named Carson. The name was changed to Sintaluta on September 1, 1888.
The Post Office opened on August 1 1885.
The current population is 97.
A letter mailed in Carson on March 17, 1887, when the town was part of the Territory of Assiniboia.
