The town was originnaly named Hommy after early Norwegian settlers Hans and Sidsel Hommy.
The name was changed to Albright on June 1, 1931.
The town was named after W.D. Albright, a pioneer agriculturist of the Peace River area..
The Post Office opened March 1, 1929, and closed on February 2, 1955.
