The anchor of Bright Bank's history began with the construction of the Bright Bank School, built in 1909 by local early settlers August and Fred Kreye. The building was intentionally designed with large, low windows on one side to maximize daylight for students studying their books. The Post office opened on March 31, 1908, and closed on January 6, 1956.

As settlement patterns shifted and rural demographics changed, the schoolhouse building was converted into the Bright Bank Church in 1930. In 1948, the building was relocated to a prominent local corner (Highway 627 and Range Road 21) on land donated by resident John Kyle, at which point a church steeple was added.
