The community's early infrastructure included multiple stores, schools (with the last closing in 1985), a parish hall, and medical support from midwives, fostering strong cooperative ties among families such as the Ayottes, Bergerons, Lafrances, Cotes, Malos, and Jeans, who shared equipment and labor for threshing, plowing, and community events. Notable landmarks include the Lafond Roman Catholic Cemetery, where many early settlers are buried, and the Lafond Roman Catholic Church, constructed in 1925 as the community's second place of worship and now on private property though no longer holding regular services.
